A story of Benedict (Vhong Navarro), an internet podcaster who gives love advices to his audience and when he was about to propose to his girlfriend Victoria (Wynwyn Marquez), but he got dumped instead. He found himself sober after his break up when he stumbled to a myterious night bar called "Turning Point" and met Mang Saro (Joey Marquez) the bartender. He served the broken hearted Benedict with a shot called "Wishkey" that allows any drinker to time travel. Benedict saw this as an opportunity to go back in the past and fix his mistakes, unknowingly, if he drink too much of it he will be transported into the different era of the Philippine history. Along with his time travels, he will meet the different reincarnations of his beloved Victoria and he will try several attempts to get back with her.

A movie that will catch moviegoers who loves to laugh their heart out. They will surely enjoy this movie.

Buy bust follows PDEA agent Nina (Anne Curtis) who was the only survivor among her squad following a drug-raid gone wrong. Filled with rage and eager to end the rule and influence of drug cartels in Manila, she joins another drug-raid. However, she and her team find themselves on the edge of glory when the operations failed once again and this time they not only face the drug gang members but a mob of angry civilians as well and the only way is to fight their way out.

Anne Curtis once again amazed the public by her latest film. Demonstrating her action skills, it is no doubt that she has proven herself time and time again when it comes to playing complex characters. Along with her co stars Vera, Neri etc.. the cast gives off solid performance too. The storyline and cinematography looks very promising and the trailer gave us just enough glimpse to have an idea of whats happening and also left us with a few question. The film has also given us a sense of familiarity: One will recognize that it bares resemblance on the 2011 Indonesian ‘s hit action thriller ‘The Raid’.

North America has received the film so well and that alone should be enough reason for us to watch it in cinemas. To all movie goers alike this film is a must watch.

The film tells the story of handsome but ruthless Sid (Dingdong Dantes) a stock broker who suffers from insomnia and depression. He spends his night in a 24-hour cafe near his condo where he meets Aya (Anne Curtis) a waitress at the said cafe. Aya works two more jobs: A part time clerk at laundry shop and a performer in an amusement park. After being charmed by Aya, Sid offers her another job: To keep him company for a few hours every night. Although insisting that it is not a love story the story unfolds in a way that tells it otherwise.

Dingdong Dantes and Anne Curtis are no strangers to making good films. Both have starred on acclaimed films and to finally have them together in one project is exciting, seeing that this film is Curtis and Dantes’ first film together. The writer and director; Irene Villamor is no stranger to complex yet interesting love stories either. To see this trio collab in the big screen is very exciting and to be offered such intriguing story adds to excitement.

The story and cinematography looks very promising. We have been presented with mediocre to cringe-worthy stories lately but this movie hopefully seems different, better. A promising story along with two of the Philippines finest actors and a director who has given us good quality films lately sure is worth a watch. So is it a love story or not? Citizen Jake

Citizen Jake is a 2018 noir crime drama starring Atom Araullo, Teroy Guzman, Gabby Eigenmann, Adrian Alandy and Max Collins. Other cast members include Cherie Gil, Lou Veloso, Nonie Buencamino, Anna Luna, Allan Paule, Richard Quan, Victor Neri and Dina Bonnevie. It is written, produced and directed by Mike de Leon. It premiered on May 23, 2018.

The film is centered around Jake Herrera (Atom Araullo) a journalist and blogger who lives in Baguio City and treats it and the house he lives in a safe haven against the problems of the real world. This arises conflict against his father (Jacobo Herrera) who is a corrupt senator along with his older brother (Gabby Eigenmann) who is also a corrupted congressman as they want to sell the house. Moreover Jake hates the fact that his father and brother are corrupt politicians prompting him to write articles against them and their friends much to the annoyance of his father. Wanting to prove to himself that he is different from his father, this changes however when he tries to solve the murder of a female student from the university he teaches in.

The film is Atom Araullo’s acting debut, he also helped with writing the script along with the Director de Leon and another principal writer Noel Pascual. Most notably known as a journalist and TV reporter, Araullo as seen in the trailer channels his inner acting skills in this political drama. This movie is also the director; Mike de Leon’s debut film in 21st century.

What is so interesting about this film is the authenticity portrayed by Araullo since he is a real life journalist together with Mike de Leon who is responsible for the 1999’s classic Bayaning 3rd world. Marco is an all around playboy but problems arise after he got a girl (Devon Seron) pregnant. Intoy is struggling as an athletic scholar his struggles doesn’t end there however as he is also looking for his long lost father. And lastly, Bobby an aspiring film director is being forced by his father to manage their business instead of pursuing a film career.

The movie gives insight about the millennials. About the struggles and thoughts of this generation. It also gives an idea that millennials are not all about selfies and partying and the usual’s about how millinnials are always portrayed be. Despite being scared of continuing the job Carmel accepts it due to a large sum of money promised to be paid by Jack if they are successful. Carmel soon learns the horror truth hidden from her.

This movie is Ryan Bang’s debut as a major lead after starring on several movies as the main characters side kick. This film is also his 2nd collaboration with Mayward Tandem. This film is also Mayward’s 2nd major film. The film offers us a strange yet comedic tandem between Kim Chiu and Ryan Bang. It also gave us the much loved Mayward Tandem and a charming appearance from Enzo Pineda. The film features a few comedians that are sure to give us a laugh. The One That Ghost Away offers us a slight tone of horror but a major tone in comedy.

The film tells the story of Burn (Gerald Anderson) who lives a seemingly perfect life. After a failed proposal to his girlfriend, Burn’s work performance deteriorated leading to him getting fired. He drives to an unknown location and gets in to an accident which leads him to a resort owned and managed by Abi (Pia Wurtzbach). At first burn is annoyed with Abi’s over optimistic attitude but soon adopts to it which leads to them to slowly fall in love. As burn gets a second chance to fall in love, will it work out or will it lead to another heartbreak.

This movies serves as Pia Wurtzbach’s acting debut after years. In the trailer Pia has showed us not only her charisma but her wit and acting skills as well. Despite being out of the acting limelight for years and despite the trailer has only given us glimpses of Pia’s acting chops, its enough for all of us to be curious enough of what Pia might offer us. The trailer was short but it gave us enough laugh and nod to both of her dramatic and comedic lines.

Gerald Anderson on the other hand has been long known as a sought after leading man in Philippine cinema. So being Pia’s first leading man was a good head start. This is also one of Cathy Garcia Molina’s last few movies before a short directing hiatus and for her to offer another romantic comedy with Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and magnetic Gerald Anderson to lead is sure worth watching. Never not love you is a 2018 Romantic Drama Starring James Reid and Nadine Lustre. The film is written and directed by Antoinette Jadaone. The film is distributed by Viva films with Project 8 Corner San Joaquin Projects. It premiered on March 31, 2018.

The film follows young lovers Joanne (Nadine Lustre) a young trainee at an ad agency who has high ambitions for herself and her family and Gio (James Reid) a happy go lucky freelance graphic designer. The film begins with how the two meet and fall in love. On the brink of Joanne’s promotion , Gio having obtain a job on London offers Joanne to come with him. Once there Joanne was dissatisfied with her job as a cafe assistant and choose to go back to the Philippines. Their relationship soon ends as both choose different paths in life. Forward to 5 years later; Joanne and Gio meet once again but this has discovered that things have change; including their love for each other.

This is the 3rd collaboration between JaDine and Director Antoinette Jadaone but this film happens to be their first project together. The two earlier projects which was both a TV Show, The first being the hit TV Show; On the Wings of Love followed by Till I Meet You. The first title of the film was originally ‘Five Years Later’ then it was change to ‘Here’s to the Fools’ but the title was finalized to ‘Never Not Love You’ by December of 2017.

From the trailer itself, it already guaranteed that this is not just another love story or another JaDine love story. It also gave us a peak James and Nadine’s acting capability; that they can do more than their usual romantic comedy drama and that when given such material they can deliver a well acted performance.

Other cast members include; Adrian Alandy, Sharmaine Suarez, Yayo Aguila and Josef Elizalde. For Filipino movie goers and JaDine solid supporters, this movie is a must watch!

The film centres on married couple David (Xian Lim) and Kanika (Coleen Garcia). David a photographer whose blooming career was cut short due to a recent incident caught his wife having an affair with her co-worker (TJ Trinidad). Angry and hurt, David spends some time alone in Sinilaban Island (Sin Island) where he meets Tasha (Nathalie Hart) a fashion designer who was also recently in a disastrous relationship. Both Tasha and David are immediately attracted to each other and the two begin an affair. Kanika on the other hand follows David to the island to try and repair their relationship. She however finds herself in conflict with Tasha who is already in love with David.

Filming Sin Island took 8 months and production of this film has went through a lot of delays and problems. The film was in development as well a there was also problem in schedule. This film is also Nathalie Hart’s debut film as a lead actress, she has only appeared as minor characters on previous other films.

Sin Island doesn’t offer the usual cat fight between the wife and mistress. It also doesn’t offer the usual romance. This one is much more steamy, scandalous, thrilling and dangerous. Sin Island is the perfect movie for couples this valentines as it talks about love, second chances as well as to fight for your place in ones relationship.

The film follows Celeste (Bela Padilla) a graphic designer who has an argument with her boss which leads to the decision to quit her job. That night she meets Jesse (Carlo Aquino) a frustrated musician forced by his parents to study medicine. Celeste also uses the name Katy Perry every time she orders coffee. Celeste and Jesse realize their names are similar to the romantic comedy movie ‘Celeste and Jesse Forever’.

The story is told only in 3 days and each day cuts out several years later. On the 1st day is when Celeste and Jesse first me on a coffee shop where they talk about their dreams and the sacrifice they have to make. They end their night with a kiss and the movie forwards 4 years later or in the movie is day 2.

On day 2; 4 years later, Celeste and Jesse suddenly meet on a coffee shop where Jesse now uses Brad Pitt when he buys coffee. Celeste is now a successful artist and Jesse is now raking up veterinary medicine, the two talk about what has happened in their lives for the past four years. Day 3 which is 2 years later; Celeste now lives in St. Galen, Switzerland and Jesse surprises her. The movie now leaves the two to decide their future.

The film offers a fresh pair of love team. One that surprisingly is funny, interesting and lovely. Bela Padilla and Carlo Aquino never fail as the trailer looks interesting enough. It makes us wonder, what will happen once they meet again in St. Galen. Will it finally end in something meaningful? The answer in your question will only be answered once you watch this film.

The film centers around the lives of Lianne Reyes (Judy Ann Santos) and Cindy Reyes (Angelica Panganiban) both devoted wives to their husbands, Gary Reyes (Joross Gamboa) and Felix Reyes (JC De Vera) respectively. Both men turns out to be gay and are in a relationship with each other which is the reason why both of them left their wives. When the two Mrs. Reyes finds out about this, both women decided that their ex-husbands must pay the price for cheating and lying to them. Thus both women decided they must ruin every bit of happiness their ex-husbands has.

The Film is considered as an opening salvo for 2018. This is the first movie where Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban will work together. This is the 2nd movie where Panganiban and De Vera has worked togtehr since their last movie; White Lady (2006) which they also played opposite each other. This is also the reunion film of Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes after years, both of which were regarded as the infamous Mara and Clara respectively. However the two play as friends in the movie.

This movie is also anticipated due to the fact that it is directed by the same director of Die Beautiful. Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban both acclaimed actresses are guaranteed to give us a good laugh and a heartfelt dramatic scenes. Aang Larawan

Ang Larawan or internationally known as ‘The Portrait’ is a 2017 Musical Drama. It stars Joanna Ampil, Rachel Alejandro and Paulo Avelino as the movies lead. Directed by Loy Arcenas and Produced under Culturtain Musicat Production. It is an offical entry to the 43rd Metro Manila Film Festival. Prior to that Ang Larawan had a premier on Japan Last October 30, 2017 as part of the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival.

Ang Larawan is based on the 1997 stage play ‘Larawan’ which is also based on the 1950 Literary Play ‘A Portrait if the Artist as Filipino’ by the late Nick Joaquin. The film takes place in 1941 just before WW2 in Intramuros. It follows sisters Candida (Joanna Ampil) and Paula (Rachel Alejandro) who is in conflict whether or not to sell their father’s painting; His final masterpiece.

Because the sisters are suffering a financial crisis they are encouraged by their older brother (Nonie Buencamino) to sell both the painting and the house. The film also features a cameos of celebrities including their musical director Ryan Cayabyab and his wife.

Ang Larawan gives a feel and glimpse of old Manila, its culture, people and history. Not just another cliche film presented every year, truly one of Philippines finest literature and film, this film in every detail is original as it is a true filipino gem. This film proves how creative and artistic filipino’s can be.

Ang Larawan was the most critically successful film at the MMFF. With six wins, including; The prestige Best Picture Awards, Best Actress (Joanna Ampil), Best Musical Score, Best Production Design, The Gatpuno Antonio J Villegas Culture Award and Special Jury Price Award.

The Film follows NIca (Jane Oineza) and his father Aris (Raymart Santiago) a police inspector reassigned to their province to investigate a mysterious death of a woman, one similar to a childhood friend that still haunts him. Nica and her cousin, Mich (Maris Racal) along with their friends RJ (Jameson Blake) and Andre (Jon Lucas) went on an outing which leads the ‘sitsit’ a mythical creature that targets woman at night to prey at her.

‘sitsit’ is believed to be the cause of the sudden disappearance and death of the women in town. When the ‘sitsit’ slowly devour Nica’s sanity, her father does everything in his power to save her.

Every year, regal films always makes sure they have horror movies for filipino fans every year at the Metro Manila Film Festival. And this year, Director Ian Lorenos, decided to create a horror film based off filipino folklore. The plot itself is interesting seeing as that it tackles the form of horror through a filipino myth.

Siargao

Siargao is a 2017 Romance Drama, Starring Jericho Rosales, Erich Gonzales and Jasmin Curtis Smith. It is Directed by Paul Soriano and Produced under Ten17 Productions. It is an official entry to the 43rd Metro Manila Film Festival.

The Story takes place in the scenic surf island of Siargao, off the island of Surigao Del Norte in Caraga Region of Northeastern Mindanao. The film is about a musician named Diego (Jericho Rosales) who returns to his hometown because of a scandalous public fallout he had with one of his band mates. He meets vlogger, Laura (Erich Gonzales) who seeks solace in the island due to a public break-up she just had. Diego is also in the process to seek closure with a former lover Abi (Jasmin Curtis Smith). Throughout the film the three learned that the greatest adventure is learning to take a risk of commitment.

The movie screams star power as actors like Jericho Rosales and Erich Gonzales always knows how to deliver on-screen. The surprise however came from Jasmine Curtis Smith who’s performance was as mysterious and beautiful as the island they shot the movie with. The movie also explores the theme of 2nd chances, closure and that it is never selfish to love yourself and moreover as you commit mistakes you should also forgive yourself. Surfing is also one of the theme; Life is about trying and picking up yourself when you fall.

Siargao was the 3rd most successful movie in the MMFF. The film won multiple awards, having 12 nominations and 7 wins including; Best Director ( Paul Soriano), Best Actress in a supporting role (Jasmin Curtis Smith), Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Theme Song and Best Editing.

Deadma Walking

The film tells the story of a terminally ill gay, John (Joross Gamboa) who enlists the help of his best friend, Mark (Edgar Allan Guzman) to fake his own death. He would attend his wakes disguised as a woman to see and hear what his friends would say about him. Conflicts arise when John’s estranged sister, Mary (Dimples Romano) visited his wake.

Deadma Walking has already showed us that it’s not just anothergay movie. Although it has been compared to last years MMFF entry ‘Die Beautiful’. In Deadma Walking, the main character is still alive although is dying of cancer while in Die Beautiful, the main character is already dead. It’s funny as it is dramatic, Joross Gamboa and Edgar Allan Guzman gave us a solid performances. The Film also features cameos of several big name actors, the most notable of which is Gerald Anderson, Piolo Pascual and Eugene Domingo.

The film also teaches us importance of family, friendship, love and happiness. A unique and sincere portrayal of something comedic. Although the premise is presented as funny it is emotional especially since were at the subject of death, the film however made it a light wit topic,assuring us it would be enjoyable to watch, not expecting to watch such simple but great masterpiece.

Both leads, Joross Gamboa and Edgar Allan Guzman despite being masculine men in real life convincingly portrayed gay characters. Both actors have already portray gay characters before therefore it is no surprise that this film is one of their best portrayal yet. The film won 2nd prize at the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 2016.

If your in for a roller coaster of emotions of laughing and crying, then this movie is a much for you.
